Offrant un système de crafting puissant, un guide de survie unique et une foule de personnages jouables, How to Survive place les joueurs sur un archipel au large des côtes de Colombie suite à un accident totalement inexpliqué... mais ils ne sont pas seuls. Pour survivre, ils devront réussir à remplir des besoins basiques (trouver de la nourriture, de l’eau, un abri) mais aussi fabriquer de nombreux outils et armes, de la canne à pêche au cocktail Molotov. Les joueurs pourront également faire équipe avec d’autres survivants en mode multi-joueurs local ou online, en mode histoire ou défi et ainsi venir à bout d’un nombre croissant de Zombies.
