Return To Castlerama mêle des éléments narratifs surnaturels, une intrigue familiale, et propose pour finir un grand nombre de styles de jeu. Le joueur incarne un jeune homme du nom de David et devra affronter des zombies, un dragon ainsi que résoudre des énigmes, des devinettes et des jeux de cartes pour sauver le village de Castlerama et la vallée de Gorendal des griffes du diabolique Artaserses. Durant ce périple, un jeu de tarot pourra être complété, celui-ci aura un rôle important à la fin du jeu.
